Mental Health Awareness Week 2022!

What a week we had celebrating The Mental Health Foundation’s campaign to shine a light on the importance of focusing on your mental wellbeing!

The aim of the week’s free, beginner friendly sessions was to provide people with the opportunity to try lots of different activities to see what helps them manage their mental health.

With just over 100 participants involved in the various activities over the course of the week I think we can call it a HUGE success!

A massive thank you and special shout out to the businesses and coaches who supported the event so whole heartedly (directory below of where you can find and get in touch with them).

The week started with a bang with a 45 minute high intensity SWEAT class, coached by the lovely Ruth at CrossFit Skipton.

A fantastic show of support from the existing CrossFit members who joined in with the class and provided that extra support and friendly encouragement to those trying it for the first time.

For those wanting to find a more low impact way of challenging their body Nicky took them through an hour of clinical Pilates which felt like a wonderful balance of showing the body some love at the same time as challenging it with new ways of moving with the breath.

Later on the week, Lou Redmond took a slightly nervous group of wild swimmers down to the river at Burnsall.

All looking rather full of beans and buzzing from their dip in this after shot!!

We were lucky enough to also secure a group Forest Bathing session with the awesome Liz Dawes, a.k.a The Forest Guru at the idylic setting of Broughton Hall.

As someone who likes to move at a fast pace and be as productive as possible I was stopped in my tracks with this session. By far the most out of my comfort zone and therefore the one I will take most value from. Don’t knock it until you try it is my advice – if you have the opportunity to try forest bathing, I urge you to open your mind to it!

Just look at the light coming through those trees…and the happy group below!

I could just keep going with how fantastic each and every session was but instead I’ll leave you with some more pics as the smiles say everything I need to.
